I will be going over the benefits of Breastfeeding for Moms and Babies, latch techniques, different positions and what to bring to Hospital with you.
At end of class I will be answering any questions or concerns.
BENEFITS FOR BABY
- Breastfeeding decreases the risk of developing:
- Ear infection.
- Gastroenteritis.
- Lower respiratory infection.
- Atopic dermatitis.
- Asthma and allergies.
- Obesity.
- Types 1 and 2 diabetes.
- Childhood leukemia. 14%–19% of cases are prevented by breastfeeding for six months.
- Necrotizing enterocolitis.
- SIDS. Breastfeeding for one month decreases SIDS by 50%.
- Children have a higher IQ, achieve more years of education, and have a higher income at age 30.
- Antibodies provided through breast milk help your baby fight infection.
BENEFITS FOR MOM
- Breastfeeding decreases the risk of developing:
- Breast cancer.
- Ovarian cancer.
- Type 2 diabetes.
- Myocardial infarction and aspects of metabolic syndrome, such as coronary artery disease and stroke.
- Postpartum depression.
- Improves weight loss, postpartum.
- Enhances bond between mother and baby.
